Trying out the new Content Edit screen

We recently rolled out an early version of the new Content Edit screen. This is part of our overall UX redesign and showcases some of the major changes to the top and right navigation, collaboration tools, new pickers, and other adjustments to make managing content easier.

We would love to have your content teams check it out and provide feedback! It is a work in progress so things like Custom Fields are not fully supported yet, and version History is still on it’s way, but for simpler content types it is ready to check out!

To turn this on in environments running 25.03.21 or newer:

  1. Choose the content type(s) for which you would like to turn the new editor on
  2. Edit the content type, and at the top of the edit screen you will see a toggle to turn on the editor, check the box and save
  3. You can turn the new editor off at any time

Let us know how it goes! We welcome any feedback on the new layout and experience!

The functionality improvement with Relationships is great - seeing what was already selected is awesome. Sort of miss the images, though. I tried to add an image to the ‘show in list’ but that’s not an option.

Hi Mark, thanks for checking it out! Yeah that is one of the several items we are still finishing up. The new Related Content picker does not yet pick up the showFields property so you cannot get an image or other fields to show on the content edit screen, and the popup picker is not customizable yet to be able to show different fields, thumbnails etc. On it’s way!

Appreciate the feedback and insights Mark, cheers!

Getting some weird errors using the new Content Edit Screen and images.
Here’s the item in the new one:

But for some reason the content I added using the new system is not showing up live. So, I did the normal thing, reindexed, flushed cache, etc. Still no dice. I noticed the new editor was adding extra materials somehow:

Even if I delete that it keeps coming back!

So, I switched back to the old way…and the (IMAGE) content isn’t there!

Okay, so this issue was when you added the images via the New Content Editor, it did not PUBLISH the images, despite the CONTENTLET being published that they were added to.
That is, if you ‘upload’ an image on the New Content Editor as a part of a piece of content, it doesn’t publish and does weird things.
Still was adding that text to the url field on it’s own.

Hi @MarkPitely thanks for outlining everything and providing screen shots. I will try and replicate that on my end and will get it to the support team to see if we can figure out what is going on. Are you on our current release? And are you using push publishing at all, or are you publishing from the one environment? Thanks!

Yes, on the bleeding edge build (25-05-12-1) . No, not using Push Publishing, only one environment.

Hi @MarkPitely , I have tried to replicate this on the demo instance but I cannot get it to behave the way you are describing. We may need to get on a call or get you on a call with Support to walk through your setup.

We would need info on the content type and fields you are using, if any are custom, if there is workflow set up for the content type and things like that. It is more efficient to get on a web meeting so we can screen share and walk through it.

If you open a support ticket I will get a hold of the support team and let them know the history and what is going on. They will most likely schedule a time to review with you as trying to replicate your full setup may be difficult. If you can shoot me the support ticket number that would be great. Thank you!
